Jeffrey Archer is a best-selling British author who is known for his books including Kane and Able, First Among Equals, and his Clifton Chronicles. His books have sold over 300 million copies and often contain political elements. Prior to his career as an author, he was a prominent figure in the UK Cnservative Party serving as a Member of Parliament from 1969-1974 and as Deputy Chairman of the party from 1985-1986. In 1992 he was made a life peer and currently sits in the House of Lords as Baron Archer of Weston-super-Mare.

Jerry Pate is a golfer who currently tours on the PGA Tour Champions and was formerly with the PGA. He won the 1976 US Open and 1976 Canadian Open in his first year as a professional golfer. He was also named the PGA's Rookie of the Year that year. His last win came in 1982 at the Tournament Players Championship in which he celebrated his win by famously throwing two of his friends into the lake off the 18th green and diving in himself.
