Anne Perry is an author of historical detective fiction who has written almost 100 books and is best known for her bestselling Thomas Pitt series and William Monk series. In 1954, at the age of 15, she was also involved in a high profile murder case when she and her best friend murdered her friend's mother. She served five years for the crime and later changed her name. The murder was the basis for the 1994 movie Heavenly Creatures in which she was portrayed by Kate Winslet.
